So I played with my ProFiles tonight.

I have 6-8 units, at last count I believed I had 2-3 working units, with one of those being dodgy.

Well good news is, it seems I have 3 working ProFiles, having become a bit more aware of the ROM chips on these things recently, I noticed that one of my 5MB controllers had the 10MB ROM chip installed.. I have no idea how this occured, but I corrected it and now that 5MB is working!

It seems that I did make a mess of muddling units around when I was first trying to work out what was workign and what wasn’t, but thanks to some sleuthing, I’ve started piecing everything back together by case colours, prototype cases, etc.

My earliest Apple Profile drives are the A9M0005 as opposed to the A9M1005 which is still 5MB. Weirdly, my earliest units SN#’s are in the 123000 mark, both had 115V power supplies that have been switched internally into 230V PSU’s (one jump and and fuse change and voila).

The mission continues tomorrow, now I have the 10MB ROM on the right board, I am eager to see if I can get a 10MB working. I originally purchased the 10MB unit from New Zealand for a hefty price. I also had a brand new service 10MB HDA I got with my original Lisa’s, but due to a lack of known good analogue boards its hard to say if I’ll ever get it going.

My 5MB ProFile that was working hooked up to my display Lisa is dead, I know that the ubnit would eventually come good previously after being left on for 20-30 minutes, its no longer the case. I think the analogue board under the drive is the next port of call as warm up suggest some dodgy cap to me!
